The Nigeria Police, Ebonyi State Command, has put a price tag of N15, 000 on each wanted cult member suspect, decrying the insecurity of lives and property in the state as a result of the dramatic upsurge of cultism, gangsterism, murder and armed robbery in Ebonyi State University.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Gana made this known to newsmen in Abakaliki, saying that there has been series of shooting and killings in the Abakaliki metropolis, Ishieke and Presco campuses of the university for about two months now.
Gana disclosed that the killings got to a "provocative" level that the command decided to investigate the nefarious activities of cultists and has succeeded in gathering names of some key players in the illicit cult goup operating in the state.
He added that the suspects have been declared wanted with a price tag of N15, 000 for any informant with useful information that could lead to their arrest.
The police boss also announced that they have deployed over one hundred operatives (plain clothed ) to at least restore normalcy in the university.
He revealed that with aggressive patrols, intensified stop and search, the command has arrested thirteen persons who are suspected to be cultists or armed robbers.
Gana said that three of the suspects: Onyenwosa Kelvin, Udogu Chinaza and Livinus Udeh have made confessional statements of being members of secret cults.
"The first admitted being a member of Bokina Fasso (BF) while the other two admitted being members of Brotherhood of Blood (BB),"
He called on landlords, members of the public and students to co-operate with the police in eradicating cultism and other vices by giving vital information to the police.
Last month a block of rooming house occupied by students at Nnorom Street, Ntezi Aba, near Abakaliki, was set ablaze by suspected cultists and destroyed property worth thousands of Naira, which include certificates and other credentials of residents of the house.
